The Executive Director of the NotToYoungToLead Initiative Amb Elvis Akpobi has hailed the re-election of the Lawmaker representing Ibarapa East Constituency, in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
In a statement issued to journalists in Asaba, the Delta State Capital on Wednesday 14th June 2023 Amb Akpobi described development as a reaffirmation of his position on the need to give young people with capacity opportunity to take up leadership position.
According to him, “Rt Hon Ogundoyin was not only re-election by his constituents, he was also re-elected by the members of the assembly to lead them again” adding that “it show the confidence the members have in him as their leader”.
Ogundoyin, was first elected in 2018, following the death of the 8th Assembly speaker, Michael Adeyemo, and was consequently elected as the substantive speaker to complete the tenure of the late speaker.
Ogundoyin’s emergence followed the proclamation and inauguration of the 10th assembly by Governor ‘Seyi Makinde. He was elected unopposed given that he was the only nominee for Speakership.
Amb Elvis Apkobi has been advocating for youths to be involved in governance and decision making because they have the qualities to present durable inputs in governance.
