Group calls on President Tinubu not to Consider Former Plateau Governor, State 8 reasons.

Recall that two Federal Lawmakers and APC stakeholder from Plateau State (Hon Alphonsus Longgap and Hon Lumumba Da’adeh) had accused the APC in the State under the instruction of the forme Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong of planning to suspend all those who paid a congratulatory visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume when he was appointed. This move according to them was to take out any perceived competition to the subsequent ministerial appointment of the former Governor.

Ahead of the expected release of ministerial nominees by the Presidency, a group by the name ‘Plateau APC Integrity Group’ has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to consider Former Plateau State Governor and former Director General of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Organization, Simon Bako Lalong, whom they have accused of being the reason why the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost out in Plateau State.

In a statement issued on behalf of the group by Alh. Iliyasu Z. Aliyu, they noted that “Those waiting or praying to see GOVERNOR, LALONG make the list of ministers are likely to wait in vain because lalong is the reason why the APC lost plateau to the opposition…”, claiming that they “…advised the party on how the former governor was demarketing the party, their advice fell on deaf ears, but now they have seen the results of not listening to good counsel”.

According to the group “At least, we’ve been vindicated.Our reasons why the former governor shouldn’t be considered for any appointment in the present government at the centre are serious and would lead to creating the opposition to suspect cover up…”

The group stated the following reasons
“1. Governor lalong didn’t believed in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu candidatures during the primaries in which he ensured the state was intact for Rotimi Amaechi, but with the resistance of the Aggrieved gubernatorial Aspirants in which they worked against his directives and gave the President 26 votes out 51, the president won without his input.”

“2. Because of the mess created by the lalong Administration, a committee of inquiries has been set up for the recovery of plateau assets which have been sold to himself and individual cronies without following the laid procedures, so involving him at the centre will undermine the integrity of the centre.”

“3. Some of lalong’s commissioners are already enmeshed in creating the mess in the state, most especially the two former commissioners of land and survey, Mr. Yakubu Datti. Datti was alledged to have directly been involved in selling the machines acquired by the Jang Administration for benefit of all farmers in the state, they are alleged to have also sold off plateau state liaison office in Kaduna State and landed properties belonging to the state.”

“4. Lalong was the available tool in the hands of those who wanted the head of Adams Oshiomole as APC national chairman to create space for Rotimi Amaechi, he equally fought the struggle of his excellency senator Tanko Al-makura all in the name of creating an opening for Rotimi Amaechi.”

“5. Rotimi Amaechi who is Lalong’s master refused to identify with the president since his defeat at the party primaries nor has Rotimi Amaechi put a call to congratulate his victory, while he is still the political God father of lalong. Lalong being the DG campaign for the president but couldn’t convince his boss Rotimi Amaechi to campaign for the success of the election means a lot.”

“6. It is a known fact that Lalong used the presidential campaign funds to buy properties for himself, in laws and friends against the main reason why the funds were released. Party stakeholders were not given any amount from the campaign funds, the outcome was the monumental failure of APC in the state starting from his polling unit, ward, shendam local government. This was indeed disgraceful for a seating governor, who doubles as the DG of a presidential campaign. A terrible history was made.”

“7. It would be recalled that during the campaign in Kwara State when Lalong said “its your turn to chop” many thought it was a slip of the tongue, but those who knew the game saw his deliberate intentions of working underground to favor one of his pay masters ,Atiku Abubakar since he was the chairman of the northern governor’s forum.”

“8. The opposition in Plateau lateau State is about setting a commission of enquiry to investigate the lalong Administration so we strongly recommend that lalong should not be involved in any political appointment for now until he clears his name of the mess he supervised.”

The statement concludes “In conclusion, the above mentioned mind boggling issues are enough for the president to look into. We wish to congratulate and identify with the president for starting on a very good footing by hitting the ground running.” Adding that “Progressive Nigerians are proud of All your appointments which reflected competence, federal character and national unity. We also wish a you King Solomon’s wisdom and most importantly long life and good health . congratulations.”. The statement closes.
