Breaking: Plateau Civil Servants Suspend Indefinite Strike Action

The Joint National Public Service Negotiation Council (JNPSNC) has suspended the industrial action embarked upon in the twilight of the herald of the new administration of Barrister Caleb Mutfwang.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Joint Negotiation Council Comrade Titus L. Malau and Comrade Timothy S. Gopep respectively and made available to journalists at the NLC Secretariat in Jos on Friday 14th July 2023, the union said their decision was informed by the compliance of some of the terms of agreements reach by both the union and government.

Some of the demands made by the unions which the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang have addressed include the completion of the balance of February 2023 salaries, verification of workers by a joint committee made of union and government before the payment of March 2023 salaries and implementation of all promotions with immediate effect. Other demands include payment of April and May Salaries following same pattern of verification as done in the payment of March salaries and the payment of salaries of newly employed civil servants upon completion of the ongoing review of the process of their employment by he State government.

The statement directs civil servants at both the Local Government and State Levels to resume work on Monday 17th July 2023. The workers had embarked on the indefinite strike on 10th May, 2023.
