Just In: Kyari emerges Ag. National Chairman of APC

Senator Abubakar Kyari (North), the Deputy National Chairman, North of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken charge as the Ag. National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Senator Kyari, accompanied by other party officials, led a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, with tight security in place.

Born in Borno State on January 15, 1960, Senator Kyari is the son of the late Brigadier Abba Kyari, a former military administrator of North Central from 1967 to 1975.

Kyari is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Martin in the United States (1986) and also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri (1989).

Senator Kyari’s political career includes serving as a representative for the now-defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) in 1998 and being elected to the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003 under the now-defunct All Peoples Party (APP).

He served as a Commissioner in Borno State from 2003 to 2005 and 2007 to 2011. He was elected to the Senate to represent Borno North on the APC platform and was re-elected in 2019. He continued in office until 2022 when he assumed the role of Deputy National Chairman.
