The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja has launched the ‘Step-Up’ Headquarters of the Special Taskforce Operation Safe Haven, as well as aspecial military operation code names ‘Operation Hakorin Damisa IV’ in Mangu LGA of Plateau State.
The Army Chief, in company of the General Officer Commanding 3-Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven Major General A. E Abdulsalam and other senior military officers from the army high command launched the operation and the ‘Step-Up’ Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven, on Saturday 22nd July 2023 in Mangu, Plateau State.
While flagging off ‘Operation Hakorin Damisa IV’, the Chief of Army Staff said the additional troops brought from the Headquarters, Nigerian Army, is part of reinforcement efforts of the Army in order to contained the detoriorating security situation in Mangu LGA and other parts of Plateau State.
General Lagbaja also unveiled additional combat enablers brought in for the operation. These include Carmel Mrap QJC 88 Military Personnel Carrier, Special Amored Personnel Carrier Trucks, Normal Personnel Carrier Trucks and 20 Special Forces Motor Bikes, adding that more will come in the course of the operation.
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Abdullatef Lagbaja condoled with the Mishkahgam Mwaghavul, His Royal Highness Da John Putmang Hirse and the people of Mangu LGA in Plateau State over the unfortunate security situation which resulted in the killing of hundreds of people and the displacement of thousands.
He restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to restore sustainable peace and normalcy to the area and Plateau State at large.
While addressing troops in a separate ceremony to flag-off the Special Military Operation “Hakorin Damisa IV’, he charged troops to show professionalism in their engagements in the operation to bring to an end the needless killings in the area and ensure that anyone carrying a military grade weapon is arrested and the weapon recovered.
