Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom receives HRH (Dr) Selky Kile Torughedi in London sues for sustainable peace in the Niger Delta

Ambassador Sarafa Isola has welcomed His Royal Higjness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi the Eyewei the 5th of Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State at the commission’s office in London.


HRH Dr Selky who was there on a solidarity visit on the Nigerian Commission to the United Kingdom on Wednesday 26th July 2023 said it became necessary for him to visit the commission in order to commend them for providing the foundation for Nigerians who are in the United Kingdom to study or work, adding that Nigerians in the living there have excelled in all facets of life with the support of the High Commission.


HRH Dr Selky was accompanied by his daughter princess Keys Selky who just graduated from University of Huddersfield after successfully studying Law and Criminology.

While responding, Ambassador Sarafa Isola thanked HRH Dr Selky for his visit and commended his efforts back in Nigeria, particularly his role in brokering sustainable peace in the Niger Delta region. Ambassador Sarafa added in his own words that “…today there are no oil thefts in the Niger Delta Region, it is being monitored and controlled, there is absolute peace in the area”.

The ambassador particularly thanked HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi (also known as General Young Shall Grow in the agitation for Niger Delta) for his role in the emancipation of the Niger Delta region. The ambassador who referred to the oil in the Niger Delta as “the black gold”said that the struggle, in the region was because of the oil in that region, hence, he thanked HRH Selky Kile Torughedi for his contributions to the sustained peace in the region, his efforts in youths capacity building in the region, his calm demeanour, his kingship and his kingdom in Bayelsa State.

Ambassador Sarafa extended his greetings to the great people of Bayelsa State and encouraged the youths to continue to promote peace and, support developmental efforts in the Niger Delta region.

Ambassador Sarafa also used the opportunity to congratulated Princess Keys Selky, the first daughter of HRH Selky Kile Torughedi, for successfully completing her academic pursuit at University of Huddersfield in Law and Criminology, stressing that it signified determination and hardwork to achieve the feat.

On his part, HRH Dr Selky King thanked Ambassador Sarafa for the warm reception and encouraged him to continue to make impact for the Nigerian community in United Kingdom, while also extolling his leadership quality of being diverse, inclusive and extraordinary.

His Excellency Ambassador Sarafa and HRH Selky Kile Torughedi exchanged pleasantries and promised to continue to explore areas of collaboration before HRH Dr Selky returns to Nigeria.

Earlier, HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi in his remark promised that all hands will be on deck to support the growth and development of his people in Bayelsa and Niger Delta at large.
According to him building the youth in Niger Delta is his passion. He promised to continue to promote the sustaiance of Peace in the Niger Delta region and beyond.

HRH Dr Selky was also accompanied by the Leadership of Niger Delta Youth Association in the United Kingdom, as well as members of Ijaw Youth Council.
