Breaking: NUJ Correspondents Chapel Elect New Officials

The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) have elected new set of officials to champion their affairs for a term of 3 Years. The keenly contest elections with 51 delegates who participated saw two contestants for the office of Secretary and Vice Chairman respectively, while the contestants for the office of Chairman were three.

Declaring the results, Electoral Committee Chairperson Tongna’aan Bawa announced the following as winners of the offices contested; Polycarp Auta (New Agency of Nigeria) Elected Chairman, Agada Okopi (TVC) as Vice Chairman and John Ferinola (Channels TV) as Secretary.

Others returned unopposed include Marie-theresa Nanlong as Assistant Secretary and Omolola Bello as Financial Secretary. Positions left vacant include the office of the Treasurer and Auditor which are expected to be filled subsequently, when the new leadership conducts elections for the offices.

They were immediately inaugurated by Mr John Tsok (Esq) who charged them to take their oath seriously.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated EXCO, Newly inaugurated Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, NUJ Plateau State, Polycarp Auta thanked the electoral panel for doing a great job. He extended the appreciation of his colleagues to the delegates for finding them worthy. He equally extended their appreciation to those who contested with them and called on them to support them by collaborating with them and bring their initiatives for the betterment of the chapel.
