The Nigerian Police Force, Plateau State Command, led by the Commissioner of Police in the State attended the Protest procession organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress, Plateau State Chapter. Commissioner of Police CP B. N Onyeka told the workers to continue to act peacefully and responsibly.
In his own words CP Onyeka said “Plateau State is surrounded by states experiencing various levels of insecurity and whatever happens in those state influences what happens in Plateau State directly or indirectly”.

“It is your right to protest but you should do so peacefully. We must do everything within our best to maintain the fragile peace on the Plateau. I have taken note of the issues you have raised, and in due course, we will look at how they will be addressed”.
The NLC Chairman, Comrade Eugene Manji appreciated the CP for keeping to his words by coming to provide security for the protest, while also thanking him for being a gentleman to the Union. There were solidarity addresses from the National Vice President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Prof Chris Piwuna, TUC Chairman Kenneth Shamah, National Public Relations Officer, National Association of Academic Technologists of Nigeria, Comrade Dr. Godwin Mafuyai and Mr Steve Aluko from the Civil Society.


The Protest Procession started from the Secretariat Flyover through the Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat and the Federal Secretariat respectively. The Unions are protesting the sudden removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) without proper proactive provision of palliatives.
