Hon Ephraim Usman Hits the Ground Running – Receives Transition Committee Chairmen of 17 LGAs, Bauchi Local Government Service Commission

The Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Plateau State, Hon. Ephraim Usman has expressed the readiness of the Ministry to work in concert with the Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Councils of the State to engender development across the State in line with the strategic development plan of the Mutfwang-led administration.

This was contained in a statement dated 10th August 2023 and signed by the Information Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Edward Bulus Damwesh, which was made available to this journalists. According to the statement, the Commissioner stated this when the chairmen paid him a courtesy call in his office in Jos.

The Honorable Commissioner reiterated the Governor’s passion for growth and development required every organ of government to function optimally for the purpose of attaining this goal.

While thanking them for the visit, Hon. Ephraim enjoined them to work in a manner that the lofty development agenda being rolled out by the present administration would meet the legitimate needs of the people.

Earlier is his remark, leader of the delegation who is the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Godwin Kumji Nanmwa said they were in the Commissioner’s office to identify with him as well as congratulate him on his appointment.
Describing the Hon. Commissioner as resourceful and vibrant, Hon. Nanmwa stated that his appointment was well deserved, and promised that they would support the Commissioner to succeed in the task ahead.

Similarly, the Commissioner also received a delegation from the Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission who were on a state tour of the Plateau State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, to seek enrichment of its own operations.

Welcoming the delegation, the commissioner stated that role of the Ministry in dealing with local government and chieftaincy matters cannot be overemphasized being a sensitive responsibility.

The commissioner said the traditional institution which is under the ministry was pivotal in maintaining the people’s culture, norms and tradition and that comparing notes in order to make the institution function well was necessary for development.

He, accordingly, promised to make available relevant documents that would help them in discharging their duties.
Responding, the Chairman, Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission, Alh. Abubakar Mohammed Wabi expressed delight for the warm reception accorded them, and promised that the visiting team would make good use of their findings in the interest of Bauchi State and the nation at large.

Recall that on Tuesday 8th August 2023, the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Ephraim Usman officially took over reigns at the Headquarters of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Jos.

In his remarks having been warmly welcomed and having received the handing over notes, Hon. Ephraim Usman said he will subject the past activities of the ministry to objective review and come up with creative ideas aimed at revamping the ministry.

He added, “We have to rise to the challenge of the 21st century. We shall put our heads together and come up with innovations to improve the productivity of the ministry. We are going tonot debate a lot of issues in our management meetings and come up with improved ways of doing things. It shall not be business as usual.”

“We must get to work, and in the next 3 to 4 months, we must have tangible results to present to the governor and the good people of Plateau State”, he added.

On behalf of the staff, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Gwom, commended the vibrancy of the commissioner and pledged their unwavering support to him.
