His Excellency Mohammed Badaru’s appointment as the Hon. Minister of Defense didn’t come to me and many others as a surprise, in view of his sterling antecedents, unequalled track records, innate capacity and massive goodwill, particularly as a former governor of Jigawa State.
Throughout his 8-year tenure as governor, he painstakingly left incredible legacies of absolute peace, harmony, tranquility and development in the state, which by the way, is surrounded by states with some of the worst records of insecurity, ranging from wanton acts of terrorism to banditry, kidnapping, herdsmen attacks and other forms of physical violence, e.g. kano, Kaduna, Katsina and kebbi States.
Mr. Calculator, as he is fondly called, is a keen team player in who is extremely intelligent, well traveled, exposed and intellectually mobile to tackle the issues of insecurity currently ravaging our society, as exemplified in all the political positions he has held before now.
Thank you once more, Mr. President, for finding him worthy to serve in such an exalted capacity. You can rest assured that he will not let you, and by extension the generality of Nigerians, down.
