Plateau State Government Flags-Off National Immunization Plus Days, restates Commitment to overhaul State Sector

The Plateau State Government has said that as part of efforts to tackling childhood vaccine preventable diseases, the government has undertaken a total overhaul of the health sector to ensure effective healthcare delivery in the State.

The Government in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Board, UNICEF, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and other partners, have been working tirelessly to provide quality healthcare and immunization services to all eligible children.



This was disclosed by the Executive Governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang who was represented by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency, Mrs Josephine Piyo at the Flag-Off of the September 2023 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs), held at the Primary Healthcare Center Tudun Wada, Jos North LGA of Plateau State.

On the significance of the event, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Her Excellency Mrs Josephine Piyo welcomed everyone to the September 2023 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign, which according to her “…aims to boost population immunity and stop the transmission of the circulating variant polio virus (CVPV2) in Plateau State.”.

She appreciated and applauded the work of partners added thus “We appreciate and applaud the world of our partners as we strive to achieve universal health coverage in our state and Nigeria as a while”.

The Deputy Governor urged all parents and guardians to bring their children for vaccination and other routine immunization services from September 29th to October 3rd 2023, while also appreciating partners for their courage and service to the children of Plateau State.

The event was attended by the Executive Secretary Plateau State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Raymond Juryit, Sole Administrator Jos North LGC Mr. John Istifanus, Representatives from the National Healthcare Development Agency, Rotary Club, WHO, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Gbong Gwom Jos represented by Gwom Rwei Riyom Da Sam Jok among others.

The Deputy Governor performed the ceremonial administration of few doses of the Polio Vaccine to few children to offically Flag-Off the exercise which expect to last for the next four days. She was accompanied by dignitaries at the event.
