Berom Progressive Minds (BPM) Get New National EXCO

A group by the name Berom Progressive Minds have sworn-in a new set of Executives expected to man the affairs of the association for the next 3 years administrative tenure of the association. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Swearing-in and celebration Dinner organized by the association on Sunday 1st October 2023 at Greatlinks Continental Hotel, Gold and Base, Jos.

Those sworn-in include Dr Samuel Kwis as National President, Barrister Yohanna Samson Chuwang (aka Toolbox) as Administrative Office 1, Mr. Rex Cheng Administrative Officer 2, Ambassador Friday Bako as Financial Secretary, Mrs Rebecca Yakubu as Treasurer and Tok Samson Morgan as Public Relations Officer.

Presenting certificates to the Newly Sworn-in EXCO, Chairperson of the Electoral Committee of BPM Pharmacist Kaneng Pwol and her team (Pharmacist Kim Bot, Dachollom Dadongs, Mr Ezekiel Nyango and Timothy Danchal) said that the event was the climax of a journey of collective efforts. She appreciated the commitment of all members which according to her is the strength and deep passion shared by them for the growth of Berom land. She noted that Leaderhip is not a solitary endeavor but a collective action. She extended her congratulations to the new EXCO and called on all members to support them in order to forge a new chapter for the association.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Convener of the group Da Gyang Dudu said that though the group emerged as a result of one form of challenge or the other, the group is the future, the tomorrow of the Berom Nation. In his own words “But I want you to know and be conscious today, you are the future, you are the tomorrow of the Berom Nation. Check all the groupings in Berom land, they met at a certain level, they did not grow together. You are the first group that will grow up together, bound yourselves together, and end up together”.

He noted that at inception many thought that the initiative was presumed to be for the future political benefit of himself (Da Gyang Dudu), but what the group has turned out better and greater than many thought. He described members as lights expected to shine and become reference points in the Berom Nation. He encouraged tolerance amongst members as the group grows into the future.

Outgone National Coordinator of BPM Mr Pamsom Dagyat shortly before handing over to the New National President of BPM Dr Samuel Kwis gave a detailed background of the history of the group from inception, the various initiatives of the group, the challenges and successes encountered, as well as legacies of the group in the last years of the group’s existence.

National President of BPM Dr. Samuel Kwis in his acceptance speech outlined the important roles BPM played in his life and the lives of other members in the past. He congratulated members of BMP who were elected into office in the February and March 2023 General Elections. These include the Member Representing Jos East-Jos South Federal Constituency Hon Dachung Musa Bagos, Hon Fom Gwottson (Banga by Nature), as well as those appointed into the current administration in Plateau State. He appreciated members for the trust reposed in him and others in their election into office to lead. He assured members of his commitment to work tirelessly for the betterment of the organization and her members.

In his own words “Together we will strive to achieve our goals, foster a culture of inclusivity and create a positive impact in our community. I am humbled by the opportunity to lead such talented, dedicated group for individuals. Your support and collective cooperation will really go a long way in achieving success in this association”.

He expressed the EXCO’s desire to reach out to aggrieved and expelled members of the association who have shown interest in the activities of the association in order to get everyone on board. He also solicited for the support and guidance of those who contested with him in order to move the association forward.

The event was attended by the Executive Chairman, Plateau Internal Revenue Service (PIRS) Mr. Jim Pam Wayas, The Honorable Commissioner of Transport, Hon Davou Jatau among many others.
