The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter has appealed to Nigeria’s Service Chiefs to intervene in the alleged abduction of the Jos South PDP Chairman, Hon Dung Tari who was reportedly abducted by persons in military uniforms and trucks on Monday 25th September 2023 at about 1pm around Total Filling Station, Bukuru express. This was disclosed by the State party Chairman Hon Chris Adukuchili Hassan during a press conference held at the party secretariat along Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos.

The party Chairman while reading the press text appealed to the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police to “use their good office to intervene and order for the immediate release of Hon Dung Tari and we promise to provide sureties who will produce him upon demand”. The Chairman added that the release will calm the tension already brewing in his family, Jos South Community and the PDP family in the State.

Mean while the family of Hon Dung Tari have also added their voice to the call for the immediate release of their father and husband, who they said was abduct for over 3 weeks without anyone contacting them. Speaking to Journalists in Jos on Thursday 19th October 2023, wife of the abducted party Chairman, Mrs Esther Dung Tari said that since the abduction of her husband on Monday 25th September 2023, no one has contacted her or any other member of the family in respect of her husband.

When asked if she was aware of any issue her husband had with anyone recently that may warrant his abduction, she denied knowledge of any recent incident apart for an incident which according to her occured 3 years ago. Only that this time around, it was the Police who arrested him and took him to the Police Station at K-Vom, but was eventually released.
The military however denied involvement in the alleged abduction. Spokesperson of the Special Taskforce Code names Operation Safe Haven, OYA James challenged anyone making such accusations to come forward with evidence, adding that the military has been arresting persons parading themselves with military uniforms claiming to be soldiers, hence persons might have
