190,000 Plus expected Beneficiaries of The Renewed Hope Cash Transfer in Plateau State

Plateau State Cash Transfer Unit (SCTU) has organized a scale up training on enrollment of beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Recalled that the President had promised to capture 15 million households which are expected to benefit from as part palliatives to help cushion the effects of the subsidy removal.

According to the Plateau State Head of Unit, Mrs Hilda Buenyen, the desk officers of the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau where brought together for a refresher training as part of preparatory efforts for the implementation of the President’s Renewed Hope Initiative.

She disclosed this at the end of the training which took place at Fadip Hotel Jos on Monday 18th December 2023. According to her names of the beneficiaries were  drawn from the national social register, stressing that the president’s objective is to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty. She added that this will only be possible with the cooperation of the people.

Speaking furthermore, she added that though most of the beneficiaries were drawn form the national register, new ones will also be enrolled  and added in subsequent phases of the renewed hope cash transfer.

According to her the initiative targets the poorest of the poor to benefit, stressing that the training of the local government deck officers and CTS is to enable them meet up with the current upgrade of the scheme and how to go about the exercise in the field.

Mrs Hilda said that before now during the conditional cash transfer era, they had 74, 000 beneficiaries spread across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State but currently the numbers have increased significantly to over a hundred and ninety thousand 190,000 beneficiaries.

According to Mrs Hilda the good news about the renewed hope cash transfer is that the amount has been increased from the initial N5,000 per household but to N25,000 per household.
