Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkon (Ph.D) has said that the reason for the continuous attacks on Plateau communities can be attributed largely to lack of proactive actions on intelligence reports and the lack absence of punishment of perpetrators.
The Former Senate Minority Leader made this remarks during an interactive session with journalists at his residence in Jos on Wednesday 27th December 2023. He was reacting to question about the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos and parts of B/Ladi LGAs of Plateau State which according to latest records has claimed the lives over 160 innocent people.
According to Senator Mwadkon “the Perpetrators have not always been arrested, they have not been dealt, they have not been punished accroding to the laws of Nigeria”.
He noted that at the moment Plateau people are mourning the sad incident which has taken away their spirit of celebration from them. In his own words, he said “We are aggrieved, we are pained, we are not happy we are saddened because Christmas is a time of peace, Christmas is a time where we show love, friendship and tolerance and we exchange the message of peace but this people decided that Plateau should not enjoy this peace that comes with Christmas”.
The Senator noted that these attacks were part of attempts to distract the giant strides taken by the administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, stressing that the Governor Mutfwang he knows will not be distracted in alleviating the suffering of the people.
While commenting the efforts of security agencies in the state, he noted that security personnel deployed were largely patriotic to Nigeria, while a few abad eggs were playing along the lines of certain ethno-religious interests. He called on security forces fish out such bad elements who are facilitating such terrible acts and bring those responsible to book to serve as deterrence, so that peace can return to the state.
Senator Mwadkon condoled with the government and people of Plateau State over the sad occurrence and prayed God to comfort the families of those who lost their beloved ones.
Hon. Simon Mwadkon leader per excellence, of cause I’m not surprised in his clear words condemning the act of killing innocent lives and destroying properties
He is one among leaders who has proven over time to uphold the interest of the their constituents and even beyond as a legislator of the Republic Of Nigeria
