The Eyewei Football Club of Azuzuama have won the 2023/2024 General Young Shall Grow Tubo Unity Cup, a tournament which is sponsored by the Eyewei the 5th of Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi (a.k.a General Young Shall Grow).
The final which took place on Monday January 1st 2024 in Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State saw Eyewei FC defeat Emikiri Zion United FC 1-0 to lift the adored trophy.
This edition of the Tubo Unity Cup was keenly contested by 12 teams. It is interesting to noted that defending champion Young Stars FC Korokorosei were defeated by the Eyewei FC of Azuzuama 1-0 at the quarter finals stage. It is no surprising to see them lift the trophy as they have been the revelation of the tournament so far. Eagles FC of Umbughene won the third place match by walkover, considering that Selected Stars of Lobia Kingdom failed to show up.
The Eyewei the 5th of Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi was present at the finals to personally hand over the trophy to the winners of the tournament. The tournament has no doubt produced good entertainment and has become a rallying point for unity and peace among the people.
As a decorated Peace Ambassador, HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi has continued to support peace, unity and empowerment initiatives across Nigeria. He is an advocate of education and peace, who believes that the struggle for the emancipation of humanity is now intellectual.
