The Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center has distributed 100 Wheelchairs in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The tricycle wheelchairs were given to truly deserving person, particularly first-time recipients who couldn’t hide their emotions. The distribution was done in an occasion organized by Hon Rabi’u Dangabi in Ringim, Taura LGA of Jigawa State on Wednesday 3rd January 2024.
While handing over the tricycle wheelchairs for onward distribution, the Executive Director, Beautiful Gates Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan told the beneficiaries that the wheelchairs were enablers that will help them pursue education, learning of vocations and other productive ventures that will make them useful members of the society.
He reiterated that disability is not the kiss of death but a setback that through the wheelchairs and other enablers can be overpowered. He emphasized the need for every human being to be self sufficient adding that it is his organization, Beautiful Gate’s motivation to provide mobility enablers to persons living with disabilities for this purpose. He appreciated Hon Rabi’u Dangabi for reaching out to Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center for partnership in order to provide wheelchairs to the beneficiaries. He encouraged other spirited individuals to contribute in making life easy for persons living with disabilities by proving mobility enablers.
On his part the host of the event, Hon Rabi’u Dangabi, a former member of the Jigawa State House of Assembly narrated that his motivation to support persons with special needs was connected to an experience he had when as a contractor he visited a school he was to do some work at. He said he saw how a little girl who had physical disability being dragged around in large plastic container.
He narrated that at night he couldn’t sleep but cried throughout. And from then on he began looking for how to provide mobility enablers for not just that little girl but as many persons living with physical disability as possible. He added that he was delighted when he learnt about the work of love the Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center was doing and was encouraged to reach out to the organization which gave birth to the event where 100 beneficiaries from across the 10 electoral wards of Taura LGA.
Apart from the wheelchairs that were given to the beneficiaries, Hon Rabi’u Dangabi donated cash to the beneficiaries as transportation stipends to help them get home. Other spirit individuals also joined him to donate to the beneficiaries. The event was attended by Political, Religious and Traditional Rulers from across Jigawa State who all prayed for Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center and all who ensured that the 100 beneficiaries got wheelchairs and cash donations to transport them home.
