The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Kanke LGA, Hon Caleb Nuhu Shikir has hailed the unparalleled patriotism of the men of the Nigerian Military who have given their all, including paying the ultimate price to ensure the peace and unity of Nigeria.

The TIC Chairman made this known during a colourful ceremony held a Kanke Local Government Secretariat, Kwal, the headquarters of the LGA on Monday 16th January 2024 to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
In his speech, the TIC Chairman Kanke LGA Hon Caleb Nuhu said “…we are gathered here today to acknowledge and appreciate the gallantry sacrifices and accomplishments of our veterans of the First and Second World war’s, Peace Support Operations and Internal Security Operations”. “My special tribute at this event goes to those who paid the supreme sacrifice doing so. May their labour for our father land not be in vain even as we sing this always in our National Anthem”.

He added that “The exploits of our Armed Forces to maintain Peace as well as their disposition to Unity of Nigeria have contributed in no small measure to our stability. We must therefore celebrate them as the ride of our country. Our Faith in our Armed Forces remains unshaken and as government we will do all within our powers to ensure that our Armed Forces are motivated to perform optimally most especially the Nigeria Legion at the grassroot”.

He stressed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria have time and again demonstrated Unparrelled patriotism, courage, loyalty and commitment as they grappled with the daunting challenges of defending Kanke LGA, Plateau State and Nigeria’s Territorial integrity.
“On this note, I am glad to that the Nigerian veterans have contributed to the socioeconomic development of our country. It is also a sign to our resolve to remain United as a nation and confront any challenges we may face” he said.
He pointed out that the collective sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria “…is a sign of our resolve to say no to divisions irrespective of religion, political, enthnocentrism inclination and embrace one another as a United indivisible Local Government Area and the nation at large”.
“As I launch the Emblem therefore, I call on all the invited special guests to make generous donation to the Nigeria Legion to facilitate the purpose of their set goals achieve. That will also supports the windows and orphans of the Fallen Heroes, to procure the Emblem and wear them with pride”.
Hon Caleb Nuhu Shikir used the opportunity to on behalf of the good people of Kanke LGA congratulate the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang over his resounding victory at the Supreme Court.
“Before I formally launch the emblem, I have the singular honor on behalf of Kanke LGA citizens to use this ample opportunity to congratulate His Excellency governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang on his recent well deserved victory over the supreme Court judgement for affirming him as the legitimate Executive Governor of Plateau State”.
He then concluded by launching the 2024 Armed Forces Emblem with the sum of N400,000 which was given to the Nigerian Legion Kanke Branch.
The Chairman also officially assumed office in company of party faithfuls and supporters who couldn’t hide their joy.
