TIC Chairman of Kanke LGA Donates Four Motorcycles for Effective Healthcare Service Delivery in Rural Areas Within the LGA

The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Kanke LGA, Hon Shikir Nuhu Caleb has donated four (4) motorcycles to aid the movement of personnel for effective delivery of health services in rural areas across the LGA. This is part of his commitment to provide dividends of democracy to the good and peace loving people of Kanke LGA.


Shikir provided four motorcycles to the health workers of the Council at the Council Secretariat in Kwal on Tuesday 16th January 2024 to help them navigate the four districts of Kanke LGA in the course of effective service delivery.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman on Media and Protocol, Tea Gomos, the Hon Shikir was quoted to have said “My presence here today demonstrates our administration’s commitment to put the health of the peace loving people of Kanke as a top priority. My administration have interest in the health sector and my people at heart. I have identified challenges of inability to assess health care services and inadequate referral system by some communities due to topographical locations or lack of mobility. I have therefore, purchased four motorcycles to commission them for onward distribution to ease challenges from some of the communities with difficulties. Our goal of revitalizing the Primary Healthcare centers is to ensure that quality basic health care service is delivered across our three political zones in Kanke LGA irrespective of their locations.” Shikir stated.

“We shall be focusing more on the people living in rural areas and the entire vulnerable population in our society. As a government, we have identified and recognized the challenges of health mobility to facilitate easy movement to referred patients with emergency situations from the PHCs at the remote centers to general hospital at Kwal, Kanke LGA.” He added.

Shikir noted that in line with human health development, the leadership of his administration is resolute to secure and ensure that the the health of his people is given top priority.



The motorcycles are expected help in no small way, especially during routine immunization exercise and necessary movement of medical equipments and supplies by personnel across the nooks and crannies of Kanke LGA.

“I want to also appeal that the communities benefitting are saddled with the responsibility of managing and securing these motorcycles and using them for the purpose they are meant, to enhance and promote health care delivery system in their respective communities and Kanke LGA. The Primary Health Care (PHC) department should serve as monitoring agent for sustainability.”

The primary health care centers that shall be in custody of the motorcycles for use across each ward are as follows:
1. PHC Kabwir Ward
2. PHC Golbong, Amper Ward
3. PHC Lumpye, Ampang Ward
4. PHC Tipik, Gararam Ward.
