The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang has said in the wake of the unfortunate Christmas Eve attacks, that the commanders of security forces deployed in Plateau State are doing their best but government is also looking at exploring other nonkinetic measure that can prevent these unfortunate attacks.

The Governor made this known while responding virtually to questions on “Day Break” a morning show on Trust TV on Wednesday 17th January 2024. Accroding to the Governor, terrorists and criminal elements who perpetrate these acts must have been sighted by people in some areas, hence there is need for communities to share information. He stressed that his administration is looking at ways to improve intercommunity relations, which will help in no small way in early intelligence gathering and sharing, which will arrest the situation before security deteriorates.
The also noted that terrain had possessed a challenge to the response of security forces, he however noted that the command and control rigidity of the security architecture demands that they take orders from their superiors im Abuja, hence it becomes difficult to have swift response in times of distress.
On the issue of State Police, the Governor noted that though the calls for state police are genuine, nigerians can not continue to running away from the reality under the guise of allegations that the state governors may mismanage the instrument. He called for collaboration between the State and Federal Government as is currently seen in Plateau State to ensure that security agencies do their jobs effectively in the protecting lives and properties.
