Breaking News: INEC suspends the Electoral Officer of Jos North over involvement in missing Ballot Papers in Plateau North National Assembly Rerun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Electoral Office of Jos North LGA of Plateau State over the sudden disappearance of ballot papers for House of Representatives Ballot Papers of over 15 Polling Units in the Saturday 3rd February 2024 National Assembly Rerun in Plateau North Senatorial District a d Bassa-Jos North Federal Constituency. Recall that voters in over 15 Polling Units of Tudun Wada-Kabong Ward and 3 Units in Naraguta B Ward could not vote because ballot papers were reported to have gone missing.

In a statement issued by the Head of Department Electoral Operations of the Commission in Jos Isah Abah Idakwo on Sunday 4th February 2024, the Electoral Officer of Jos North LGA whose name is yet to be disclosed by the commission (but our correspondent got the name through a source as one Fredrick Igboji) was asked to step aside to allow for proper investigation on the circumstances that let to the disappearance of House of Representatives ballot papers in 16 polling units within the area.  The Commission directed him to handover to the INEC LGA Supervisor Barrister Elekwa Onyemauche, the RAs of Tudun-Wada Kabong and Naraguta B Ward to complete the process.

Recall that the Commission  in Plateau State rescheduled the elections in the units to Sunday 4th February 2024 to enable the commission sort out the issues sorounding the disappearance of the ballot papers.
