Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, has reportedly died following his involvement in an air crash on Friday evening. Details of the incident remain unclear, however an amature video footage of the crash sites uploaded on social suggests that none of the eleven crew members, which were reported to include the Chief of Army Staff Major General Ibrahim Attahiru might have survived.
Details of the incident are still unclear but a military source who pleaded anonymity informed Daily Trust that the incident occured in Kaduna on Friday 20th May, 2021
In a statement, the Nigerian Air Force confirmed that there was an accident involving one of its aircraft in Kaduna but did not give details.
According to a statement credited to Edward Gabkwet, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, “An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,”
