Breaking: North Central and Niger-Delta Youths call for sack of CBN Governor, pass vote of Confidence on DG DSS Bichi

Youths under the umbrellas of the North Central Youths Parliament and the Niger-Delta Youths Parliament have called for the immediate sack of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, describing him as ‘an enemy of the State’. This was contained in a Statement jointly issued by the Leadership of North Central Youths and the Niger-Delta Youths Parliaments in Abuja the Nation’s Capital and made available to journalists on Tuesday 20th December 2022.

According to the Statement, “…public office holders should be in trust and honesty for the benefit of of all Nigerians and nothing, hence, they will not allow any public office holders to bring Nigeria to its knees through what they described as “acts of conspiracy, reckless looting and unlawful diversion of public Into private use”. They noted that they have stood their grounds on the fact that any public office holder found wanting in the performance of his/her statutory duties is made to face the full wrath of the Law and also that of the North Central/Niger-Delta Youths Parliament.

The Statement declared support for the position of the Leadership National Assembly’s, calling for the withdrawal of the new cash withdrawal policy of the Central Bank. They called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele and for Mr Emefiele to be made to face the law as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They described the policies of the Central Bank under the leadership of Mr Godwin Emefiele as “anti-citizens, and inflict more hardship to the common Nigerian man and women”.

They used the opportunity to pass a vote of confidence on the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Mr Yusuf Magaji Bichi for his interventions and successes recorded in maintaining Internal Security and the economy of Nigeria. They called on other security agencies to investigate and invite the CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, while urging the courts to comply with security agencies to unravel the issues surrounding the recent allegations leveled against Mr Emefiele which led to the recent demand for an arrest warrant against him.

The groups threatened to organize a World Press Conference and Mass Action (Protest) and March to the CBN Headquarters in Abuja and other branches across the country to demand the resignation and immediate removal of Mr Godwin Emefiele if actions are not taken.
