Members of Dahwol Diye Community today Saturday 8th October 2022 came out in their numbers to make the road network within their area motorable. The road which has been in a very sorry state from Europharm extending to few meters leading to Zarmaganda-Rayfield Road has been a shadow of what a motorable road should be.

Speaking during the community road maintenance exercise, Ward Head of Dahwol Diye, Da Manjei Gregory Davou described the exercise as a product of the collective unity of members of the community who sent in their contributions which facilitated the purchase of trips of bolder stones, laterite, and bags of cement which the entire community came out to lay at different points to make the road motorable.

He appealed to Government to come to the aid of the community by rehabilitating the road network in order to alleviate the sufferings of residents especially during the rainy season.
Chairman, Dahwol Diye Community Association, Comrade Joshua Hitler Pwajok who was physically excited said that though the contract for the rehabilitation of the road had been awarded in the past by the State Government, over time the road became bad to the point that residents found it difficult to navigate their way in and out of the community.

He added that after appeals to Government to come to the aid of the community without any reasonable response, members of the community decided to come together to fix the road. According to Comrade Hitler, the donations came in little by little and today they came out in their numbers to make the road motorable. He expressed excitement that the turnout showed that the community was indeed united. He noted that the road is a nerve road that linked Rayfield – Zarmaganda to Sparkling Junction, adding that making it motorable was important not only to members of the community but also other persons who would ordinarily use the road. He was full of gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness this overwhelming solidarity and commitment from members of the community.
Adding his voice to the exercise, Youth Leader, Dahole Diye Community Association, Comrade Friday Bako, noted that the community decided to contribute their quota in having a motorable road and facilitate development.

He appreciated the youths of the community for coming out enmass and for showing that as critical stakeholders in the community, they had interest in the growth, development and progress of the community.
He added that the youths and stakeholders of the community used the WhatsApp Group created for easy communication in the community to raise awareness on the need to fix the road which led to the overwhelming solidarity and contributions from stakeholders and youths. According to him, the resources gathered were used to purchase laterite, stones and even cement.
He stressed that the youths came out to work without demanding a dime for their participation. He called on government to give greater attention to the community looking at the population of over 50,000 residents in the community, stressing that infrastructure such as roads and portable drinking water were essential to the development of the community at this time.
Also lending his voice to the development popular On-Air Personal, Tok Morgan, popularly known as ‘Big Blunt’, who is also a resident of the community (for over 9 years) and also participated in the exercise stressed that the community had suffered due to the bad nature of the road. He noted that for a long time, the road has been in the budget of the Plateau State Government but without any tangible result coming. He added that the community decided to come out and do something about the road.

Morgan stressed that though government cannot do everything, members of the communities must take responsibility for their development, adding that the exercise is an indication that residents of Dahol Diye had decided do their best. He stressed that when the community has decide to contribute towards development, government should be notified so that they can come in and assist. He urged members of the community not to dump refuse waste on the road and drainages in the community adding that such will always spoil the road network.
